#2. Non-scaling backgrounds All of the sites use the feature of having a non-scaling background. No matter what horizontal size you stretch your browser window to, it will not stretch the background. All sites except for Big Day Out use a centered design (which re-centers the background when you resize the window). The Big Day Out site uses a left aligned background, which means as you drag your window wider and wider to the right, the content stays on the left and all there is on the right is a repeated background image. Semi-related to this is the fact that all these sites have a horizontal resolution of less than 1024 (smallest common display resolution).
